State Education Agency/Special Education
Non Public Agencies/State Education Agency Approved List
Public schools are required to provide a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to eligible special education students, age 3-21. If a student’s special education needs cannot be met within a given district, the district may contract with an approved Non-Public Agency (NPA) for special education and related services as the least restrictive environment (LRE) for that student as established through the Individual Education Program (IEP) process.

Washington PAVE
Our state training and parent information center. PAVE provides training for groups upon request and you can call the 1-800-5-PARENT toll free number for individual parent assistance with the IEP (Individual Education Plan) process. PAVE staff and volunteers are also very knowledgeable about 504 (accommodations) plans as well as state and federal special ed laws/rules.
