Child and Youth Resources
Basics Northwest
Provides social skills groups for different ages and a LEGO night. They also provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children with a qualifying disability and certain health insurances.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington (Thurston, Mason, and Lewis area)
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound (Pierce, King, and Kitsap area)
Community Youth Services/CYS
For more than 40 years, Community Youth Services has helped children, teens and young adults survive some of society’s harshest realities: homelessness, abuse, poverty, crime. Through a continuum of interrelated programs, we enable young people to reach the ultimate goals of safety, stability, self-sufficiency, and belonging. Nearly three thousand youth – and their families – are served by Community Youth Services annually. CYS is also a provider for Independent Living Skills (federally funded) - ask for Liz Snyder to find out about eligibility requirements.
